Students chose the husky to be the school mascot in a 1939 poll, and also chose his name. While there are two “live” Jonathans at any given time – the real-life husky and a spirit mascot – only cartoons of Jonathan get to play basketball, like this version of Jonathan seen in the ‘70s and ‘80s.
